A free, independent civic resource · Made for every voice

Privacy, in plain language.

We aim to keep this website simple and limit the information it handles.

Last reviewed: October 26, 2026. This notice describes the supplied starter website. The site owner must update the published contact details and review applicable privacy laws before accepting submissions.

What visitors can do without submitting information

Browse official directories, hypothetical election scenarios, sample ballot resources, quizzes and volunteer links without registering. The federal ZIP lookup adds the ZIP to the page URL (?zip=55401) and sends it to the RepsContact embed service. If your ZIP spans districts, any additional street address entered in the embed is handled by that external provider. Your Voice does not save it in the volunteer database.

Official lookup by address, ZIP and map

On the Officials page, addresses, ZIP codes and selected map coordinates are submitted only when a visitor initiates a search. The website's Cloudflare Worker temporarily sends street addresses to the U.S. Census Geocoder, ZIP searches to Zippopotam, and locations to a public 119th-congressional-district ArcGIS service. These searches are not written to our volunteer or preference database, but Cloudflare and outside providers may process technical logs. Opening the interactive map also contacts OpenStreetMap tile servers and a Leaflet library CDN. A ZIP-derived location is approximate; not every ZIP identifies a single district.

Portraits, social links, and external resources

Official photos and social profiles are retrieved from community-maintained Congress Legislators and Images of Congress datasets. These external hosts may receive normal web request metadata including your IP address. Government directories, external social platforms, published events, VOTE411, Ballotpedia and volunteer organizations have their own privacy policies. When you use an external link, you leave Your Voice.

Quizzes and hypothetical results: private by default

Issue and candidate research quiz responses are processed in the current browser tab; they are not automatically transmitted to the site owner. Your hypothetical 2026 U.S. Senate election map selections are stored only in this browser tab's session storage, which you can clear by closing the tab. These scenarios are not election predictions or official returns.

Anonymous issue-category submissions (optional)

After finishing the issue quiz, you may explicitly choose “Share these topics anonymously.” This sends only broad selected topic categories (for example, housing or education), without a name, email, candidate preference, party affiliation, full answer sheet, ZIP code or other identifiers in the database fields. The server and hosting provider may still process normal technical request metadata. These topic selections are never joined with volunteer contact records. If the database is not enabled, the submission is rejected and nothing is stored by the website's application database.

Volunteer interest submissions (optional)

When you check the consent box and submit, the website can save your email, optional name, optional state, chosen nonpartisan volunteer categories, consent and submission date. These are stored in a separate private Cloudflare D1 table accessible to the website owner, not publicly displayed. This is a request to be contacted, not an application to the external organization, and no automatic email is sent by the website. The form does not request voting preferences or party affiliation. The website does not share volunteer contact information with advertisers or sell it for political or commercial targeting.

Community event searches and installation

When you submit a ZIP code on the Community page, it is sent to this site's event-feed endpoint and forwarded to the public Mobilize API with your selected search radius and category. We do not add ZIP searches, individual event clicks, march attendance, or device location to the application database. The server and third-party providers may process operational request metadata under their own policies. This site does not ask for GPS location access. The installable web app caches selected static pages locally on your device to support limited offline access; event results and volunteer submissions are not cached in the app shell. You can remove the installed web app or clear browser site data to remove this cache.

Retention, access and deletion

The intended retention period for preference and volunteer submissions is no longer than 90 days. The starter database schema includes cleanup SQL; the site owner must configure and run automatic or regular deletion before public launch. Until the owner does so, the 90-day limit is a policy goal, not an automatically enforced guarantee. To request access, corrections or deletion, contact the owner at the privacy contact address they publish in this notice. The starter site has no visitor account or automated data export/deletion portal. Only the owner can access collected records through the Cloudflare D1 administration tools.

Advertising and sponsorships

Direct sponsorships and third-party automated advertising are clearly labeled and separate from official information. The Google AdSense publisher script is included on online pages for site verification even before paid ad units have been enabled. It contacts Google and may process browser or request metadata. Display ad units stay disabled until the owner enables them with approved ad-unit IDs. When advertisements are active, cookies or similar technologies may be used for advertising measurement and frequency capping even with non-personalized advertising. The site requests non-personalized ads by default; it does not pass quiz responses, hypothetical election selections, volunteer interests or ZIP submissions to Google for ad targeting. Google and its advertising partners have their own privacy practices. Where required by law, the site owner must implement an appropriate Google-certified consent management platform before enabling advertising. A sponsor's external destination may have separate tracking practices. Sponsor inquiries draft an email in your device's email application; no server-side sponsor inquiry storage is configured.

Hosting and data security

Cloudflare may log technical requests under its own policies. D1 database access is restricted through the owner's Cloudflare configuration. The sample API validates submitted fields and blocks cross-origin requests, but production sites should also set up anti-abuse controls, access restrictions, retention automation and any additional required disclosures. Do not use these forms to transmit sensitive political beliefs, voting choices, or sensitive personal information.

Data source and accuracy

Official rosters, photos, social profiles, events and ballots can change. Verify time-sensitive information with the official publisher. Your Voice is not affiliated with a government agency, candidate or political party.

Questions and privacy requests

The site owner must publish a privacy contact email here before collecting volunteer information. Until then, avoid submitting personal data. Contact details in assets/site-config.js are for advertising inquiries and do not automatically publish a privacy address.
